NYCRI offers adult (masters) programs throughout the spring and summer to introduce
people to the fun of on-the-water, team rowing. We utilize our 4 and 8 person boats
to introduce you to the rowing stroke, terminology, boat safety, and boat handling skills.

COMMUNITY OPEN ROW - FREE
NYCRI offers a free introduction to rowing for members of the community.
Come down to the boathouse, meet the coaches, learn the basic stroke, and give it a shot.
Registration not required, but please show up on time.

ADULT LEARN TO ROW - MORNING SWEEPS
Our two week Adult Learn-To-Row sessions are geared toward men and women of all athletic ability. Held throughout the summer, these programs are designed to be an introduction to the sport of rowing. Including rowing technique, water safety, boat handling and physical conditioning. Space is limited to 30 rowers, so sign up early.

ADULT LEARN TO ROW - LATE MORNING
This one week program is designed for the people who find 6am just to early. Modeled after the early morning session this later session will include rowing technique, water safety, boat handling and physical conditioning. Classes are longer than the traditional morning session and attendance is crucial for success.

Time: 9:00-11:30am
Age: 18+

LEARN TO SCULL

NYCRI is launching its first year of sculling. Unlike rowing in team boats (sweep), sculling is a symmetrical stroke that emphasizes finesse over power. We will utilize the club’s singles and double shells to teach the basic stroke, how to enter the boat from the water, traffic pattern and safety. Classes are open to all ages and focus on personal successes making it a great program for parents and teens to take together.. Rowers who can successfully complete a safety exam and rowing test will be able to participate in the Sculling program.
